The exhibition Traces – Delineating Incidents unveils a series of drawings that translate natural forces into graphical manifestations. Set up as an investigation on energy, each plate was produced without the direct intervention of the hand; they are produced by a constructed mechanism that enables the pen to move, mechanically dictated by the force.
Set up as the constant repetition of a calligraphic action, these drawings feature chance or randomness, yet the suggestive unpredictable nature of the act leads to the emergence of certain patterns that invites the reading of the physical phenomenon.
Ten sets of drawings generated by ten different forces.

Resulting from the constant repetition of a calligraphic action, the exhibited drawings featured chance or randomness, yet the suggestive unpredictable nature of the act leads to the emergence of certain patterns that invites the reading of the physical phenomenon. These traces, marks that have been physically delineated on drawing paper, suggested intense and hypnotic emotional landscapes.
The exhibition, a collaboration between the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia and the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc curated by Edouard Cabay, featured projects initiated as an investigation at the Master in Advanced Architecture in fall 2015 by Edouard Cabay and Rodrigo Aguirre.

Force : Wind by Dirk van Wassenaer and Naitik Shah
The wind has for a long time been of great importance to mankind. Whether it was to move the first ships across the Atlantic Ocean, or to reclaim new land by the use of windmills, it has been playing a key role in some of the most important developments of the last millennium. As certain as the fact that there has been and will always be wind, is the uncertainty of it’s force, direction and continuity. These drawings exhibit a specific time-frame of wind. There where the wind makes the pen draw according to it’s force and continuity, gravity brings the pen back down as soon as the wind drops. Though similar, there are no identical drawings due to the great amount of influential parameters.
